Catalogue: No. 1, Winter 2010
For those online followers who’d like something to chew on until the next Slightly Foxed arrives, here is the first of our catalogues which, from now on, we plan to compile and publish every winter and summer. Between the office in Clerkenwell and the shop in Gloucester Road, we’ve had a great time choosing our favourite books (and there are many more to come, of course). All the titles in our 2010 Winter Catalogue are in print, and the idea behind it is to give suggestions for good reads by mining the treasure trove of excellent books that have been around for some while. We’ve grouped them by subject – fiction and non-fiction together, so that, for instance, reading Jan Morris’s magnificent trilogy on the British Empire, Pax Britannica, might whet one’s appetite for J. G. Farrell’s novel The Siege of Krishnapur. But as with SF, serendipity is the operative word. You can buy any of these books here on our website or by phoning, emailing or visiting the shop (020 7370 3503; enquiries@foxedbooks.com). So, if something takes your fancy, do please get in touch.
